Ever since TRAVELERS
opened in 1998 people have enjoyed the eclectic mix of music we play in
the shop. The predominant flavor is South Asian, though it could be classical,
devotional, pop or folk music, or more often some fusion of styles, like
so-called World Beat or Asian Massive. The music of India and its neighbors
has such a richness, depth and diversity that it inspires many western
musicians to find new ways of expressing themselves. We are delighted to
be a part of a growing music trend - for which Seattle is a center - that
has brought more and more Indian and Asian sounds into clubs and lounges,
onto the airwaves, and into our homes and minds. And, not surprisingly,
this fusion is finding its way back to India where a new generation is
enjoying the sounds of artists such as Prem Joshua, and DJ Chebi Sabah.
So, browse through our catalog and maybe you'll be inspired to broaden
your musical horizons in an eastward direction.
